Not unsurprisingly — as the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing — referral centres are diametrically opposed to Choose and Book. Whereas GPs lose control of their referral sent via referral centres, by using Choose and Book the GP has the ability to directly book the patient into the hospital of his or her choice. I strongly oppose our local referral centre and have been able to completely bypass it by booking online.
